On the "Polarwind: Osvaldo, Ricardo, Mario, myself, Alejandro and Jutta

Another exciting eveing with meeting new exciting people!

Last night Alejandro and I were invited to a “Captain’s Dinner” on the sailyacht “Polarwind” – literally, as Osvaldo, the owner and skipper of the yacht did the yummy cooking! Thanks a lot for your invitation!

It was a very thrilling night regarding new infos and contacts about 100dreds of things, it was an international mixture of Spanish (all besides myself), English (all besides Mario and Theo) and German (Jutta, Osvaldo, Theo and myself)  flew across the table like flashes of lightnings. And Jutta speaks as fast German as I do…

Osvaldo is Chilean and an experienced Cape Horn sailor (he rounded the Cape already about 40 times…). Jutta, his partner, is a German teacher. Ricardo runs the Argentina kayak manufactory SDK kayaks and was the first Argentine paddler to round Cape Horn 20 years ago. Mario is a skilfull crewmember.

But the “real” Captain Theo was just perfect to make me feeling 13 years younger, when my son Helge was 2 years old! What a cute little man! Grown up clinged to his mom’s or dad’s backs, always new things, people, destinations and languages around him – a dream life to create a bright and alert kid!

They are running the yacht for charters in the southern area of South America, living a sailor’s life on a boat and traveling the world. Right now they are in Buenos Aires to work on their newly purchase yacht “Polarwind“.

As the word “escort boat” is unfortunately not an unknown word for the Chilean Navy and Argentinian Prefectura Naval regarding the “permits for kayaking ” (another so far unknown word for me…)  in the very southern areas of South America, they will be helpful with contacts for me doing the extra loops around Cape Horn and possibly Staten Islands at least within the sight of a yacht…

Shop assistant Kai, Junior Manager André Zölzer, Senior Manager Heinz Zölzer and shop assistant Torsten were so kind to host a rolling clinic, organized by Marek Pohla and Indrek Aas from Tahe Marine, and a talk about my Australian circumnavigation.

I had plenty of fun in the river Ruhr, getting a bunch of students and the Junior Manger wet and dizzy!

There will be an entertaining gameshow in the German TV SWR,

where 4 prominent candidates (Inspektor Smudo, Ursula Cantieni, Mike Krüger, Enie van de Meiklokjes)

have to find out the right person out of three,

having done some great or interesting things…

it will be quite a tough quiz on that night! )

What I’ve been doing meanwhile? Well, working like a horse to re-opening my x-mas shop, including two overnight sessions of 36 hrs continuous work with only one day break in between only (it’s almost like paddling the cliffs in OZ…)

Now the shop is open and selling well, and I’m back to “normal” again. I’ll update one after the other all the events happening in those two months off, all the contacts I made,  all the products I find great and whatever happened and will happen…
